CHILDREN HELPING CHILDREN
Richmond Middle School Service Group

Staff Leader & Contact Person: Jody Horan

Children Helping Children is an eighth grade community service group that has worked each year since 2000 to raise money for children in impoverished areas of the world. Courtney Haynes, in the middle of the first group pictured to the right, was its inspiration. Courtney found a staff leader, Jody Horan, gathered five friends to form the first group, and the search began for children around the world where CHC could help. The flags above show the 21 countries where our funds have improved the lives of children in very direct ways over the past decade.

Children Helping Children has found areas through someone connected with the Richmond community so that our funds could be personally delivered. This has made CHC contributions more relevant to the group and to the broader community. Jody Horan was granted a service sabbatical in 2000-2001, generously sponsored by the Dresden School District, and she has also received several district enrichment grants over the years. These have enabled her to personally deliver books, CHC funds, and her teaching skills around the world, noted in the narratives, as well as sending our contributions with others.
